CPR and First Aid Classes

CPR for Family and Friends

Learn how to perform CPR for infants, children and adults and first aid for choking with hands-on manikin practice in this 2.5-hour course. An American Heart Association book and participation card are provided upon completion. This is not a credentialing or certification course and is designed for lay rescuers in the community.

CPR Heartsaver Certification

Adults and children 12 years and older learn CPR skills, use of a barrier device and relief of a foreign body airway obstruction for infants, children and adults. This American Heart Association certification course is appropriate for lifegaurds, daycare workers and camp counselors and requires successful completion of skills testing. Three-and-a-half hour class. Does not include AED training. Basic Life Support (BLS) training for Healthcare Providers and students working towards a healthcare degree is a separate course offered by the Center of Nursing Excellence, please call 314-251-3845.

Family and Friends First Aid for Children

Learn how to provide first aid to children for injuries and medical/environmental emergencies in this American Heart Association participation course designed for parents and lay rescuers. Topics include breathing problems, seizures, shock, bleeding, head injuries, broken bones, sprains and bruises, burns and electrocution, eye injuries, bites and stings, poison emergencies and much more. This is not a certification course. A Family and Friends First Aid For Children book and participation card will be provided upon completion. Two-and-a-half hour class.

First Aid Heartsaver Certification

This is an American Heart Association first aid certification program. Participants will learn how to provide first aid to adults and children for injuries and medical/environmental emergencies. Topics include breathing problems, bad allergic reactions, diabetes and low blood sugar, heart attack, seizures, shock, bleeding, broken bones and sprains, burns and electrocution, insect and snake bites, poison emergencies and much more. This course is recommended for life guards, camp counselors, daycare workers and school nurses. Participants receive the First Aid Heartsaver book and certification card at completion of this course. Three-hour class.
