Healing Environment
“Healing comes in many forms, and it is a process that goes beyond treating medical symptoms and conditions. While we can’t cure every patient, we can always heal our patients by cultivating a total healing environment.”
Denny DeNarvaez, president and CEO
St. John’s Mercy
Our goal at St. John’s Mercy Heart and Vascular Hospital is exceptional patient care in a total healing environment. A total healing environment is one that embraces a deeper definition of healing and strives to achieve it in all its forms – physical, psychological and spiritual.
Our dedicated heart and vascular physicians, nurses and co-workers bring health and healing to thousands of people each year. In addition to our excellence in traditional medicine, we offer our patients integrative services such as massage therapy, acupuncture, healing touch and many others. We believe this combination of traditional and integrative services offers patients a broader opportunity to heal.
St. John’s Mercy constantly strives to enhance the environment in which we care for patients. Throughout the year, teams of St. John’s Mercy co-workers identify and implement initiatives designed to make our environment more conducive to healing. For example, we are offering therapeutic massage and other holistic services to cardiovascular and oncology inpatients at no additional cost. We have designated “quiet times” so our patients can rest, and we have reduced environmental noise. Through these initiatives and many others, we are discovering new ways to help our patients heal.
Our Mercy tradition calls us to provide “only the best for those who entrust themselves to our care.” The total healing environment at St. John’s Mercy is one in which we can best provide the personalized, compassionate care for which Mercy is known.
