Under the direction of Sue Ward RN, department Supervisor, the Donor Services coworkers are comprised of well-trained and experienced professionals whose combined years of service total to more than 185 years. The most long-term staff member has been with the Donor Services for more than 21 years.

Cheryl’s main focus is to continually grow our blood drives. She works with schools, businesses, and communities to partner with us in hosting blood drives for patient needs. Cheryl has worked in donor recruitment for almost 10 years. Her blood drive groups range from large corporations to the smallest communities in Missouri. Her motto: While giving blood is a necessary humanitarian effort, it can also be fun! Try it today!

Jo-Ann Cooley - St. Louis Site Donor Recruiter
For more than 30 years of her professional career, Jo-Ann has worked as an executive administrative assistant, including a position as executive assistant to the president of one of the world's largest advertising agencies. Her experience in working with the general public has equipped her with the customer service skills needed for front line interactions with our blood and platelet donors. As the person responsible for platelet donor recruitment, Jo-Ann established great rapport with our donors and has an excellent track record in scheduling platelet donations. She is one of our most competent staff in all of the Blood Donor Services' computer programs. She does all the filing for the department. In addition, she does the primary donor registration/procedure entry following our many blood drives and makes sure that all of our donors in St Louis receive a thank you note.

Pat Friedel – Washington Site Donor Recruiter
Pat was a Cancer Survivor and was the recipient of donated blood and platelets. These transfusions definitely saved her life. As a result, she understands the need for donation and dedicates herself to this profession to help other cancer patients. Pat gets inspirations from her Mom’s constant reminder – God is using Pat here in his own way.

While the apheresis patient services coworkers also perform donor services function, we do have dedicated donor services coworkers. These caring and experienced professionals are Jo-Ann, Bonnie, Peggy, Bob, Mary, Pat, Damir and Joann B. This group’s combined years of St. John’s Donor Services experience is more than 50 years.
