SJMMG Volunteers Help Make Women’s Heart Fair a Success
St. John’s Mercy Heart and Vascular Hospital served as the exclusive medical partner in the Sister to Sister National Women’s Healthy Heart Fair—and set a national record as the largest single screening site in Sister to Sister history. With the help of more than 100 St. John’s Mercy volunteers, nurses, physicians, and other health care professionals, St. John’s Mercy Heart and Vascular Hospital successfully screened more than 1,400 women during the two events: Feb. 6-7 in St. Louis and Feb. 28 in Washington, Mo.
A number of clinical volunteers from St. John’s Mercy Medical Group (SJMMG) assisted in the counseling area throughout both weekends, meeting one-on-one with participants about their screening results. Dr. Elizabeth Iskander (SJMMG Crestwood Internal Medicine); Dr. Carolyn Koenig and Dr. Tracy Riordan (Mercy Internal Medicine); Dr. Cristina M. Ocampo (Vickers & Ocampo Family Medicine); Dr. Charles Rehm, Jr. (SJMMG Missouri Internists); Dr. Pilaipun Williams (Creve Coeur Primary Care); and Linda Meyer, ANP (South County Internal Medicine) all lent a hand in St. Louis, while Christy Bleckman, M.D. , and D. Bruce Glover, D.O. , both of Washington Women’s Healthcare, worked the consultation area in Washington. In addition, the Washington event featured a talk on heart health by SJMMG family medicine physician, Jennifer Scheer, M.D., FAAFP (SJMMG Gerald) and information booths from SJMMG Franklin County Surgical Associates, staffed by St. John’s Mercy Hospital Chief of Staff, Thomas Riechers, M.D., FACS, and SJMMG’s St. John’s Mercy Care Now walk-in clinic, staffed by Anne Voss, R.N., MSN, FNP .
